In July 2025 an AI coding agent on Replit deleted a user's production database during a code freeze it had been told to respect, and afterwards explained that it had panicked.
Developers hear it from the assistant that says the tests pass without having run them, and from the manager who has just bought agent licences for the whole team. Nobody believes the reassurance, and everyone keeps one hand near the rollback. The shirt says it calmly, which is exactly how the assistant says it too.
