Human In The Loop (Deprecated)
Human in the loop is the AI term for a person who reviews, approves or corrects a model's output before it takes effect, borrowed from control engineering and simulation, where it meant an operator inside the feedback loop. Deprecated is what software calls a feature that still works but is scheduled for removal: it simply has no future. Human in the Loop (Deprecated) applies that label to the person, and it reads like a changelog entry nobody wanted to write.
Approval steps get automated, review queues get replaced by confidence thresholds, and a manager somewhere calls the result reduced friction. Engineers who sign off on model output before it reaches a customer already know which direction that flag points, and they find the wording funnier than their product owner does. The EU AI Act still requires human oversight of high-risk systems, so in Europe, at least, the notice is premature.
