Sailors keep their charts current with weekly correction notices; internal docs get written once, at launch, and the code moves on without them. Alfred Korzybski's line that the map is not the territory has rarely been truer than for a wiki page about a service that was renamed twice.
The README was accurate in March, and the March in question was three years ago. For engineers who learn systems from a setup guide that skips the exact step everyone gets stuck on, then fall back on reading source, git blame and Slack threads from 2022. Wearing it to an onboarding session counts as a reasonable form of protest.
More systems learned from the source because the wiki gave up in the Code & Lifestyle collection.
