The model was supposed to improve accuracy. After six weeks of feature engineering, hyperparameter tuning, and a complete rebuild of the training pipeline, it is marginally better than the previous model on the validation set and noticeably worse on the data it sees in production. The loss curve was beautiful. The deployment is not going well.
